Zeinab Al-`Alawani, Instructor of Fiqh and Islamic Studies, Graduate School of Islamic and Social Sciences, states the following: “If it is done in a way of copying other people in their customs and traditions, I would advise not to do it. Otherwise, I cannot say it is haram unless it causes fitnah, which I don’t see it in this case.“
