In his response to the question, Dr. Muzammil H. Siddiqi, President of the Fiqh Council of North America, states:
“The Qur’an is the word of Allah and it has many blessings. Its reading is shifa’ (healing). The Surahs of the Qur’an known as “mu’awwadhatan“, which is al-Falaq and al-Nas, are highly recommended to recite for seeking Allah’s protection from all evils. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite them before going to sleep.
However, it is not recommended to wear these or any other verses of the Qur’an around the neck. In these matters we should only follow what we are told and should not add things from our side.
the simple answer to the question to what extent one can teach from the little he know is that one should be careful what one is teaching. One should only teach what one knows. Teaching without learning and knowing the subject well is harmful. Also one should try to seek good, knowledgeable and trustworthy teachers.”
