The Ruling of Dying with Black

Regarding the Islamic ruling of dying with black, Dr. `Abdul Fattah Idris, a professor of Islamic jurisprudence, said:

Dying one’s hair or beard with black is haram, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited dying with black saying, “Change this white hair, but avoid black.” But he permitted using henna and a plant called katm which gives a color similar to that of the henna.

It is important to note that dying does not in any way have effect on wudu’ and ghsul.
