wali

As-salamu `alaykum. Is it possible for Muslims to marry without the assistance of an imam or sheikh or wali, by swearing by Allah, placing their hands on the Qur'an, and declaring their love for each other? After that, can the couple consummate this union? Jazakum Allahu khayran.

Assalamulaikum,When a man and woman intend to get married, is it mandatory to get the parents permission?Also, is it permissible for an imam while leading prayers, to have the quran open infront of him and read from it if he has not memorised the surah? Jazzakullahukhair.

i want to know that i have done the nikah in the presence of 4 witness and the sister of the bride but without the presence of girl's wali so is my marriage is void or not in the eyes of Allah and regarding to islam only not courtthank u

Respected scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum! What should a woman who converted to Islam and has no Muslim relatives do with regards to having a wali when she marries? Jazakum Allah khayran!

Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. My friend is a devout Muslim. Just the same he has some flaws in his family life. He explicitly says that at times when he talks he does not talk as a human being, he talks something divine. Thus, he implicitly claims to be a "Wali". Occasionally he also interprets Islam according to his wishes. He is unable to give Qur’anic or Hadith references for such (wrong) connotation of Islam. My Question: Does Wali have to claim that he is a different person? Can a person who has failed to meet the obligation of fulfilling his responsibilities as father and husband or who distorts Islam implicitly or ex plicitly claim to be a Wali? If he is wrong, how should he be stopped from making such false claim? Jazakum Allah khayran.
