Dear Scholars:as-salamu ?alaykum.there are still prevailing customs & traditions among Muslims in Southern Philippines where virginity is measured by vaginal bleeding during the first sexual intercourse during the first night of newly wed couple. In fact, if the married woman do not bleed at first night during sexual intercourse the husband file divorce immediately based on that presumption. What is the Islamic opinion regarding this matter?
