Respected scholars, As-Salamu `Alaykum. I have asked this question of many scholars but no one has been able to give me a satisfactory answer. I hope you can clarify it for me. I know that man has to go through a lot of problems and afflictions throughout his life. Now these sufferings could be a punishment from God or it could be that God wants to test his faith and raise his ranks in the Hereafter. But how can we tell the difference between punishment from God or tests and trials by God?Jazakum Allahu Khayran.

As-salamu `alaykum.how can a Muslim remain optimistic in times of trial and affliction? Is it true that whatever befalls a Muslim is for his or her own good?how can we learn not to despair?thank you.

Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. I am 16 and have psychotic depression. I?m taking medicines for that and a psychiatrist nurse is arranged for me to be seen weekly at school. The psychiatrist said that she?s trying really hard for me not to go to a psychiatric hospital. I just want to know as to why Allah is doing this with me? Is it because I have weak faith, or am I way too much in the materialistic things of the world, have done something wrong (I did complain a lot to him) or is it a test? (Are teenagers supposed to have a test?) Please, help me because I have complete faith in him and know that he?s listening to me.
