It is known that Tarawih Prayers were started by `Umar ibn Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him). Then why do people quote hadiths in favor of Tarawih Prayers in congregation and call it a Sunnah?
Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. Hope and pray you are in the best of health and iman and enjoying the blessed month of Ramadan. My Question is: After every four rak`ahs of Tarawih prayers, a du`a' is read by the congregation. I think this is mostly prevalent amongst Indian/Pakistani communities. What is the significance of this prayer and is it from a reliable source? Jazakum Allah khayran.
Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. What is the ruling on people holding a mushaf (copy of the Qur’an) and reading silently along with the Imam while praying Tarawih behind him? Is this considered permissible? Jazakum Allah khayran.
As-salamu `alaykum.there is a controversy regarding offering the Tarawih Prayer on the eve of the 30th of Sha`ban — laylat ash-shak or the Night of Doubt — in which the crescent moon of Ramadan is to be sighted in order to determine if the next day is Ramadan or not. (The eve of the 30th is the night following sunset on the 29th of Sha`ban, or in other words, the night preceding the 30th.) Many people perform the Tarawih Prayer on that night following `Isha' Prayer before making sure whether Ramadan will start. Those people may later discover that that night is proved not to be the first night of Ramadan. Some other people wait until they make sure if Ramadan will start to see whether they can offer the Tarawih Prayer or not. Which of these is the more correct approach?
Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. My question is about Tarawih Prayer. I would like to know how many rak`ahs (prayer units) have to be performed in it? Some people claim that they are 20, and some say 8. Which one is the Sunnah? Please explain to me and Jazakum Allah khayran.
Is it allowed for someone to hold the Qur’an during the Tarawih Prayer, since he doesn’t feel right leaving his wife and baby at home in an unsafe area to go to the Mosque?
Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. Is Tarawih mandatory on women? Is it a confirmed Sunnah? Can you please shed some light on this issue for women who can’t go to the mosque for some reasons? Must they perform Tarawih as compulsory prayer, or is it nafl (supererogatory)? Jazakum Allah khayran.
Tahajjud prayer is part of the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) which Muslims should follow all the time; it’s not something confined to Ramadan. In his famous work, Fiqh As-Sunnah, Sheikh Sayyid Sabiq, elaborates on the subject as follows: “Tahajjud Prayer: Its excellence and merit, according to the
Respected Scholar:assalam AliaqumLast night in taraweeh prayers, Imam by mistake made salam after 3 rakah of taraweeh prayers. After salam people informed the imam that he had made 3 rakahs and should repeat the salah, but our Sheikh/Scholar told the Imam to continue and make the next taraweeh salah only one rakah. Is this combination of 3+1 salah in taraweeh acceptable. Is taraweeh salah valid in this situation or should the imam had repeated the salah.thanks for your reply in advance.
Respected Scholar, as-salamu 'alaikum:Last night in taraweeh prayers, Imam by mistake forgot to sit after 2nd rakah and continued to read taraweeh for the 3rd rak'ah. He didn't make salam after 3rd rak'ah but rather continued for the 4th rakah. The Imam also didn't make prostration of forgetfulness at the end of the salah. Is taraweeh salah valid in this case or should it have been repeated?thank you in advance for your reply.
Assalamu alaikum, I saw some people praying 4 raka'at before salam in trawi prayers, and that the prophet also did it. pls i wan to know if it is true.
Dear scholars,1. How many rakahs did the prophet (PBUH) pray on the nights he led Taraweh?2. I have read this in a Newspaper called the ?Daily Monitor? published in Uganda on 20 August 2008, at http://www.monitor.co.ug/artman/publish/opinions/Should_religion_be_taught_in_Uganda_s_schools_70116.shtml ?Mohammed was born 570 A.D. and died 632 A.D. He was the one who introduced Islam with a social rule that it is compulsory for anybody to eat meat when the animal from which the meat is obtained has been butchered by a Moslem! Does that mean that people never ate meat, waiting for Mohammed to give such a ruling between 570A.D. and 632 A.D. could people not eat meat? Or would they die if they ate it before Mohammed was born in order to sanction it??I have two questions: (i) Is it true that it is Muhammad who introduced Islam? (ii) Is there a ?social rule? in Islam that it is ?compulsory? for ?anybody? to eat meat slaughtered by Muslims only? If not, what is the correct rule and what is the logic behind it?
