Supplications

Respected scholars, as-salamu `alaykum. I'm constantly disturbed by nagging doubts and evil whisperings. Can you tell me any supplication that I can read in order to guard against these? Jazakum Allahu khayran.

Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. I am told that since we are weak and sinners, we can seek the intercession of saints who have died. I have heard that because they are closer to Allah than we are, they will plead on our behalf before Allah. Is this practice sanctioned in Islam? Jazakum Allah khayran.

Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. I am a 26-year-old doctor and not yet married. I am concerned about this. Earlier this year some marriage proposals came to me but I turned them down. But I now think that they may have been suitable for me. I didn't pray Istikharah. I have asked forgiveness for this. Please tell me a du`a’ (supplication) that will hasten my marriage to a good Muslim man. Jazakum Allah khayran.

Dear scholars, As-salamu `alaykum. I have always seen my family (especially mother/wife/sister) reciting some Qur’anic verses or some prayers and then blowing on themselves or someone around them (for blessing, protection, and so on). Is this a valid Islamic practice or is it just something that has been followed generation after generation? Jazaku Allahu khayran.

As-salamu `alaykum. What is the correct du`a’ of qunut that we are supposed to read while performing Witr Prayer?

Some of the people in my class often say, "Ya Muhammad", when they want to stand up or need help to do something. They say it is part of tawassul and Sunnah of Rasulullah (the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him) to ask his help and that only Wahhabis oppose this practice. What does Hanafi School teach about saying "Ya Muhammad", instead of "Ya Allah"? Is it true that this is tawassul or is part of Sunnah? Shukran (Thank you)!

Asalaamlaikum, When a person asks something from Allah (swt) and Allah does not grant the person's wish is it because: 1.Allah wants to punish the person? or 2.Allah has something better stored for the person in the future? or 3.Allah is just testing the person? I would be grateful if you could answer this question.Jazakallah.

assalamu alaykum wa rahmat Allah wa barakatuh respected scholars... may Allah accept and reward your efforts on helping our Ummah, ameen ya rab. may question is the following : are we allowed to ask Allah in our duaas, to take someone away from our lives ? the person in question is my "husband", and he neither provide for us nor treat me and his children in an appropriate way. He abuses me mentally and threats me that if i seek for a divorce i wouldnt see my children ever again. And for these children, he does nothing, neither pay for their clothing nor live with us, living with another woman, whom he married for money issues. In this situation and saying also that i am completely alone inthe country where i l ive ( germany) having my family in my origin country and no one that could help me in this situation, i often turn to Allah in my duaas, asking HIm to take this man out of my life, since he is only a burden, and neither a good husband nor a good father.  even sometimes ( and may Allah forgive me if this is a sin ), i wish for him to be dead, so icould free myself from this weight and carry on with my children as i do now, only without his threatens and bad treats. Inshaa Allah you can help me with this qustion. Jazakum Allahu khayran. fi aman Allah, wa salam.

Some people tell me that if you say such-and-such X number of times then you will get such-and-such reward, e.g., if you recite the 99 names of Allah in certain combinations and quantities, certain things will happen. Is that so?

Dear Respected Scholars. Can you please explain the Tashahud in prayer where we convey salaams to the prophet and the rightly guided people. How can we send salaams if they are not omnipresent and who are considered as the rightly guided people?

My wife is in the family way. Could you please furnish me with a Fatwa concerning the supplications that are uttered to help ease her delivery and alleviate her labor pains. Also, are there any supplications that make the newborn baby a righteous one.

As-salamu `alaykum. I am a female doctor and a practicing Muslimah. The other day at an Islamic Bookstore I bought a bracelet with Ayat-ul-Kursi engraved on it. I wear it on my right arm, the one I use to perform surgery with the intention of invoking Allah’s help in doing procedures correctly. Is my thinking correct that there will be blessings in wearing this bracelet?

As-salamu `alaykum. In Nigeria, people, especially Muslims, are fond of writing portions of the Qur’an on paper or wood, then washing it and drinking the water as a means of protection. Is this allowed in Islam?

Assalamu AlaikkumI always pray for dignity in life and lead a life without being a burden to loved ones.   And I extend this prayer for all my immediate family members as well.  Implicitly, it could mean praying for peaceful and quicker death if ever I or loved ones are bed-ridden or inflicted with incurable and painful diseases.   When I pray, that is exactly what I have in mind.   Is it sinful to pray like that?My wife is suffering from an incurable and disabling disease for the last several years and she is almost bed-ridden now.  She needs help for very basic things.  There is no hope on her recovery unless Allah bless her with a miracle.  The level of suffering will only increase as time goes.  So, these days, I tend to pray that, if Allah doesn't want to cure her (He knows best), please bless her with a quick and peaceful end before she suffers long years in the bed.  I am afraid, such thoughts or prayers will bring more wrath from Allah.  I read that Allah will not burden His slaves with distress more than they can stand.  Please help me with your advice.
