Slaughtering animal

My question is about halal animal slaughter. Is it allowed for an animal to be stunned before slaughter so as to cause less hardship to the animal. If this is allowed then why don't muslim slaughterhouses adopt this method of slaughter.

Dear Scholars:as-salamu ?alykum!thank you for your commendable program. My question is regarding slaughtering animal. Is it permitted to do several strokes in doing neck incision or only once? And if several strokes is permitted, once it is lifted the act of slaughtering is finished and it is not advisable to incise the knife again even if there is a need to do so in case one jugular or carotid blood vessel is not yet cut? SalaamalaikumThis is Ahmad Nafees; I am working in Dubai and belong to small place in North India near Faizabad city in Uttar Pradesh. During EID Al Adha people overwhelmingly do the Qurbani. But their practice of slaughter looks a bit strange to me.It is practice that a scholar (Hafiz or any graduate of local Madarsah) initially slaughters the animal for the people (typically first 30 seconds). After word the professional slaughters do the rest of the job. The purpose of starting with the scholar is that he recites the Dua, which I guess majority of the people doesn?t memorize.  I have three small questions regarding the method of slaughtering and dua;1. Is there any specific Dua that a person to recite at the beginning of animal slaughtering? If yes then please give the details of the Dua? 2. Is the practice of slaughtering followed in my city is justified under the legal guidance of Quran and Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH)? 3. In case a person does not remember the Dua, can he still starts the slaughter of the animal. And the scholar can recite the Dua fro him.May Allah guide us on Siraat ?al-Mustaqeem

Is it permissible to offer a sacrificial animal that has some defects in its body? What if I bought an animal that was good and free from defects and then the animal got some defect like having its leg broken or something like that. Is it still valid to use it?

Dear Sheikh, As-Salamu `Alaykum wa Rahamatu Allah wa Barakatu. In a slaughterhouse there is a mute butcher. We want to know how he can say the name of Allah over the animal he slaughters.

On `Eid Al-Adha, is there a different way of sacrificing without killing an animal?

Scholars of Islam, As-Salamu `Alaykum wa Rahmatu Allah wa Barakatuh. I read in the Qur'an that the meat of animals that are slaughtered with names other than Allah’s is Haram. My question is: can we eat the meat of animals that are slaughtered without mentioning Allah's Name or any other name? Jazakum Allah Khayran.

Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. Are Muslims allowed to eat animals that have been machine-slaughtered? Is there any distinction between hand slaughter and machine slaughter? Please explain the difference, if any. Jazakum Allah khayran.

My wife asked me an interesting question: Did any of the female Companions of the Prophet ever slaughter an animal during the `Eid? Is this proof that women can slaughter an animal if indeed any of the female Companions ever slaughtered?

Due to the mad cow disease we are concerned to slaughter the Udhiyah on the `Eid Al-Adha next week? Can we distribute the meat to the poor or should we give them money instead, since we stopped eating meat ourselves and we don't want to harm any one; please tell us what to do?
