Dear Sheikh, As-Salamu `Alaykum wa Rahmatu Allah wa Barakatuh. Could you please shed light on the terms "Shura" and "Democracy"? In fact, I am so confused that I find it difficult to differentiate between the two terms. Jazakum Allah Khayran.

Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. What is the Islamic position when a decision is taken after shura (consultation of people), and yet the person having the authority acts contrary to it? Or, similarly, if this person acts on a matter related to the congregation’s affairs then advises the shura members of his action? Jazakum Allah khayran.
