Resorting to People for Advice: Shirk?
As-Salamu `alaykum. If a Muslim has a counseling question and anxiously waits for the answer, he may think the answer will provide him relief. Isn’t he thus forgetting that only Allah provides relief? Should he then not seek advice? He may cons ider the answer—rather than Allah— the source of the solution for his problems. Isn’t this shirk (associating others with Allah) to seek help from someone besides Allah and depending on the answer for help besides Allah?
