What is Islam's view of a man wearing a silver ring with a lapis stone on it - written on it is the shahada?

Can a Muslim man wear a 9 k bronze ring that is covered or washed with 18 k gold?

As-Salamu `alaykum! I want my husband to wear a platinum wedding ring? Is platinum rings haram? I know that gold and even white gold are haram, but what about platinum?
