Does Allah Punish Children Due to their Parents’ Sins?
Salam Alaykum! Thank you for this wonderful service. I'm a devout, single Muslim female in my early thirties. I hardly ever sinned and even if I did they were very small ones. I've never hurt anyone or caused trouble between people, Alhamdulillah. I've been making duaa for a righteous husband for years now and have tried everything from social events, mosques, internet, but still nothing. My question is, Is it possible that I am being effected by my parents' sin? My mom sits at home all day and accuses people of stupid things. For example, if someone calls to say hi, she will think they have another motive and will start talking about them to us when she hangs up. She doesn't talk about people to others, but I'm really sick of her and her negative thinking. Everybody is out to get her, everybody is a liar, etc. I tell her its a sin to accuse people but she doesn't listen to me. She thinks helping people is being "a sucker" and gets jealous if she hears another girl got married. I've seen so many times Allah punishing people through their children. I feel like that is what's happening to me and my siblings. Allah is just. Why does he punish people through their kids? Why can't he just punish the sinner some other way.
