Relations with non-Muslims
To what extend should a muslim's relashionship to The People of Scripture go ?
Why are you Muslims so intolerant and simple-minded?You know Christianity is a very intolerant religion but at least not even Christians murder those who do not agree anymore. Islam like Christianity permits no creativity or free thought and feels anyone that does not worship its exclusive god burns in hell. How loving and great Allah is! You forbid art and creativity while Hindus and Buddhist know these are things that bring contact with the divine; you people seek merely to destroy any free thought or expression your intolerant doctrine describes. As much as I dislike Islam I think of Muslims as equals and have no problem if a non-Muslim marries a Muslim but you feel the Muslim goes to hell just for this. All I want to know is how modern people can believe something so medieval and so stupid (a religion) as Islam?
I have a question regarding cooperating with non-Muslim or Christian relief organizations. There are many Muslims suffering in different regions throughout the world, with little or no help offered except through these organizations. Is it permissible for those Muslims to receive aid from them? Is it permissible for any Muslim to cooperate with these organizations if the (intention) is purely for the benefit of fellow Muslims?
Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. What is the Islamic ruling if non-Muslims enter mosques to do restoration, to deliver speeches, or to learn more about Islam? Jazakum Allah Khayran.
Respected scholars of Islam, as-Salamu `alaykum! I have some non-Muslim friends who appreciate receiving alcohol as gift. Am I allowed to do so?
Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. I have a question regarding greetings. In Hinduism the greeting is "namaste" meaning I bow to the divine within you. In Sikhism they say "sat sri akal" meaning truth and God are eternal (undying - where both truth and God go hand in hand). My question is, would it be shirk (associating others with Allah) to use these phrases when greeting a Hindu or Sikh? Jazakum Allah khayran.
What is the Islamic ruling regarding paying visits to non-Muslim patients?
What is the Islamic legal ruling concerning Muslims who cooperate with foreigners and Non-muslims against the interest of their fellow brother Muslims?
Respected schoalrs as-salamu `alaykum. We live in a Christian-dominated country in Asia. Every December, the government gives a Christmas cash bonus to all government employees nationwide, regardless of their religious affiliation. Is it permissible for a Muslim government employee to receive such amount without transgressing the Qur’an and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)? Jazakum Allah khayran.
As-Salamu `alaykum. My cousin has a wedding next month and she has invited me and my husband to her wedding. Is it permissible for us to take part in the wedding? She is a Christian and will get married in church. Jazakum Allah khayran.
Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhuI am referring to your help and advice since I have come to a dead end.I come from Greece and I have converted to Islam only 3 years ago. My country is considered as deeply religious with the majority being orthodox Christians. My small hometown however can be described as even more religio My sister of course was supporting their side. Only Allah knows how I got to escape from there, catch the next train and get out of there. What followed was that for some time we didn?t have contacts at all. And then after a few months, me and my sister started talking again. Then she and my mother, visited me and even got out with me, while I was wearing hijab. I knew they felt ashamed for me, but at least they were trying to get along with it.This efforts however were put to an end, when almost 8 months ago I informed them that I was about to marry. They didn?t like this at all. I guess because in the corner of their mind they thought that if I kept being single then at some point I might have changed back my mind. So imagine their reaction when they found out that my future husband was a non- Greek and a muslim. They were furious! They went on saying things, like he will beat you till blood comes out, this is what your religion says. Or you will have kids and he will take them and go to his country, or he will marry another muslim wife and have you like his servant, etc.the result was that they didn?t even come to the wedding and refused any contact with me and him, despite my tries to assure them that he is mashaAllah a nice person and religious enough to prove wrong their claims. Today I am 3 months pregnant. I informed them about it and it?s like I told them today it?s Monday. No feelings aroused for them.the past 2 weeks however they delivered a message through my sister. They say, that they are ready to accept everything as long as I take off my hijab.I called my mom and talked to her. Tried to explain that if hijaab was a way to beautify I would have taken it off right away. But since it?s part of my commitment to Allah I can?t.and I know that they don?t like me wearing hijaab because they have on their mind what people in my hometown will think about me and them once I visit them. They claim of course that it is not that and that they just don?t like it. There is no way of convincing them in this matter. They say I have to back up on this, so that they can accept everything else. It like they perceive it as a war. Which isn?t of course. I want my parents in my life, but I also want to keep hijaab on my head. I realize its importance and role and wouldn?t like to compromise something like that. However how can I make my parents come closer desp ite that, when they refuse to do so?I am really sorry about the length of my question, but I felt I had to present all the facts to you.JazackAllah Khairan
As-Salamu `alaykum. Is it permissible for a Muslim to donate an organ to a non-Muslim in order to rescue his life?
As-salamu alaykum. Could you please guide me to the domains of Muslim-Christian cooperation and the efforts that should be done from both sides to enhance such cooperation?
Dear scholars, as-salamu `alaykum. What are the rules that govern relations between Muslims and non-Muslims? What are the codes of manners that should be observed here?
Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. Can we attend a Christian marriage ceremony? My husband, three children and I are Muslims. My family, however, are all Christians and they are very respectful towards Islam. My cousin is getting married and she has asked if my daughter could be a flower girl at her wedding. The traditional role of the flower girl is to carry a basket full of petals and to toss them as she walks down the aisle just before the bride. We would like to know if we can accept her invitation. Jazakum Allah khayran.
How far should the Muslim authorities enjoin the non-Muslim women to wear Hijab so long as they are in the Muslim countries?
Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. Are we ever allowed to socialize with non-Muslims? How do we tell our non-Muslim friends that we cannot be their friends anymore, without hurting their feelings? Jazakum Allah khayran.
Respected scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. Why did Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) look for a wali or protector after returning from his Journey to Ta’if ? He got a wali after many mushriks (disbelievers) rejected to give him protection. In the Qur'an, Allah commands Muslims not to take a mushrik as wali. I would appreciate an elaborated answer giving details of what the word wali means in the Qur’anic language and what Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) actually asked from the mushriks. Jazakum Allah khayran.
Dear Scholars, would you kindly shed light on how Islam addresses the issue of having dialogue with other religions? Please, support your answer with evidence from the Qur'an and Sunnah. Thanks in advance.
Dear scholars, As-salamu `alaykum. Is it permissible for a Muslim to send condolences to the family on the death of a Christian friend, colleague, or neighbor? If so, is there any authentic evidence from the life of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he did that? Jazaka Allahu khayran.
My family is typically of the Christian faith and will expect me to break my fast to enjoy Thanksgiving Day. Is this Islamically acceptable? If it is, can I break my fast and make up for the day later on? Is it permissible for a Muslim to attend Thanksgiving with his family who are non-Muslims?
Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. I am Canadian, raised Muslim, but I attended Catholic school from kindergarten till OAC. I myself have difficulty following Islam, but I do understand the religion very well. My question is, all of my friends are Catholic and I feel by compassion that I should teach them Islam. Should I teach them or not? If yes, how should I? As well, if I was to end up marrying a Catholic woman, isn't it fair to her and the children to teach them Islam and Christianity? Thank you. I hope to read your answer soon.
