Registering marriage in a non-Muslim country
Assalamualaikum,Dear Scholars,I have three questions regarding marriage in Islam.First, a person lives in a country where shariah law is not implemented. Is it enough, from Islamic point of view, to only perform islamic wedding, without performing it in front of the legal authorities? If it is not enough, are two people sinful in any way if they are married only through the islamic wedding?Second, once again a person lives in a country where shariah law is not implemented. This country does not allow a man to have two wifes. If this man wants to marry a second wife, is it enogh for him to get married only through the islamic wedding? Remember, it is under no circumstances possible for this man to legalize this marriage according to the local law. Finally, if a man is married and he has all the neccessary means to marry a second wife, does he need the consensus from the first wife? If not, what are the wife's rights in case she doesn't at all agree with her husbands second marriage?I hope you can answer these questions. Thank you very much.Emir
