Rajab

Respected scholars, as-salamu `alaykum. I wanted to know some information about the month of Rajab. What does the name "Rajab" mean? Is there anything special about this month? Jazakum Allahu khayran.

Respected scholars, as-salamu `alaykum. In the beginning of Rajab, we usually hear from Friday preachers many hadiths about the excellence of the month of Rajab and the great rewards Almighty Allah bestows upon whoever fasts during that month even for one day only. One of such hadiths is the one stating, "Rajab is Allah's month, Sha`ban is my month, and Ramadan is my nation's month." Is any of these authentic? and what is the judgment concerning the person who reports to people false hadiths that he attributes to Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)? Jazakum Allahu khayran.

Respected scholars, as-salamu `alaykum. Is it recommended to fast frequently during the months of Rajab and Sha`ban or not? Jazakum Allahu khayran.

Some people perform `Umrah specifically in the month of Rajab rather than in the rest of the Hijri months. They do so thinking that performing `Umrah in Rajab has more reward than at any other time. I would like to know whether or not this is correct. Moreover, does `Umrah in the month of Rajab have the same merit as `Umrah in Ramadan? Please shed light on this matter, as every year we are confused because of the conflicting opinions in this regard.

As-Salamu `alaykum! Thank you very much for your wonderful service. Could you please furnish me with a fatwa regarding fasting in the month of Rajab? Are there any authentic hadiths which indicate that fasting in Rajab has a special virtue or reward?

Dear Sheikh! Is there any specific reward or merit pertaining to 27 Rajab? What about fasting on that day? Is it true that Al-Israa’ and Al-Mi`raj (Night Journey and Ascension of the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him) happened on that night?
