Was Prophet Ibraheem’s Wife, Hajar, Egyptian?
What is the origin of Hagar, the mother of Prophet Ishmael, the wife of Prophet Abraham. I have read that she was a black woman, from the southern part of Egypt, now known as Ethiopia. ("The inner dimensions of Hajj - by Ali Shariati") I have mentioned this to some of my Arab brothers, who took offense by the idea that the great, great grandmother of our Beloved Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), was black, African woman. They believe and maintain that her origin was from the northern part of Saudi Arabia. Please comment.
