Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. The law of courts in the State of Virginia stipulates that whoever wants to marry should have permission from one of the local courts, after which he may conclude the marriage contract according to his own religious beliefs. So I would like to know the ruling pertaining to the marriage contract concluded by a non-Muslim official or that concluded by a priest in the church between a Muslim and a Christian woman.
