Plastic Surgery

Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. I am a guy in my early youth. I try to abide by the Islamic ways and to be a good Muslim. But I have a problem. Allah created me with a big nose, and it sticks out of my face prominently. I try not to think of it, but every time I pass by a mirror or see myself in a picture, it bothers me greatly, although I don’t show it. My friends and even my family make fun of my nose from time to time. Although they are joking, it still hurts me deeply, and I try my best not to show it. Am I allowed to undergo plastic surgery? My family says that it looks "alright," but I can't say I agree. I have hated it since I was young, and I always (and still do) hate seeing my reflection. Some of my friends make fun of it, also, but they end up saying "Just kidding!" but it still hurts me mentally. I want to ask about plastic surgery on a crooked nose. The doctor told me that this is an overgrowth. Really, it causes embarrassment and it has a psychological effect on me.

We read on the news about the first patient in France to undergo a face transplant, where facial tissue from a donor who was brain-dead was used to repair severe damage from the top of the woman's nose to her chin. The woman had been bitten on her face by a dog. The doctors who carried out the operation said, "We decided to go ahead with the transplant operation of the face because it does not only restore the anatomy and the aesthetics, but also the function of this face." The team painstakingly transplanted skin, muscle tissue, connecting lots of blood vessels and nerve cells.The above case raises many ethical and Islamic concerns that require an urgent response by Muslim scholars and jurists. Is carrying out such an operation permissible? Also, is it permissible to use the face of a person who is declared brain-dead for such a purpose? Are we allowed to go for a face transplant operation for both major and minor deformities?

As-salamu `alaykum. My daughter was born with a birthmark close to her vagina, and another one on the side of her thigh. I was talking to my husband about the possibility of getting rid of these birthmarks through plastic surgery or laser, but he wanted to be sure whether or not it is haram (prohibited by Allah) to do so. You can realize how sensitive this place is.

What is the Islamic view on plastic surgery? Could you please shed more light on the issue?

As-salamu alaikom.For a wife who doesn't have breasts or she have a plane chest, is it permissible for her to make a surgery in order to have them? It's mainly to have the husband satisfied and to maintain a good sexual relation, in order to prevent his husband to be disappointed or to look at other women.Thanks.
