As-Salamu-Alia-Kum !Several of friends very strongly believe that taking Photographs or Video is Haram. I shall be obliged if your goodself will help me to know whether it is Haram or not ? Salamu Aleykum.I was wondering about the prohibition of pictures. I've heard that it is haram when there's an element of shirk/polytheism in it. But I like to keep pictures in my wallet of family, and have absolutely no intention of shirk or anything to do with it. Also I have pictures of events I went to with my friends and I like to keep these photographs as a memory. Are these kinds of pictures haram in Islam, and if it is, can you please state why?Jazakalahu KhayranWa'salaam

In Islam, people who see photography as a profession are not required to confine their work to passport photos.
