Women nursing male Patients
Assalamu-Alaikum! I am pursuing a bachelors degree in nursing. And for my class I have clinical rotations in the hospital. During the rotations I have to take care of patients starting with giving them a bath. The patients can be male or female. When I get a male patient, I feel very uncomfortable giving them a bath, so I end up not giving them a bath, even though this is my responsibility during the shift. I can give them medications, I can change their dressings, but this is the most difficult part for me. I would like to know Islamically what should I do in this situation. Am I allowed to give them a bath? Should I tell my professor not to give me male patients, because in Islam I am not allowed to give baths to male patients? Even though I have pure intentions I still feel very uncomfortable. Please tell me what Islam's stance is in this situation. Jazakallah Khair! Thank you for taking your time out to answer my question. I really appreciate it. Wa'Alaikum Salam!
