As-Salamu `alaykum. I am still unsure about the rulings on riba (interest). According to one Sheikh, riba in the respect of a loan is allowed if it is out of necessity. Would you then agree that 'necessity' can be rationalized? For example, wouldn't a car loan be necessary for work, which provides money to live?

As-Salamu `alaykum. I read about the fatwa of buying home through mortgage and the key of that fatwa is two things: Islamic solution unavailable and necessity for purchasing home. My question is what are the criteria of necessity? Who can set the situation of necessity? Jazakum Allahu khayran.

My question is on the classifications of “necessities” – I connect this question to my previous question on interest-based bank loans for housing, which was answered by the scholar, and al-hamdulillah I have understood it thoroughly and implemented it, too.
