naming

1)Is it Islamically correct to name a boy Nuh Mohamed or is Mohamed Nuh more appropriate ?2)I am aware that Nuh is a prophets name .But can you please provide me the meaning of the name Nuh?

AOA I am trying to pick a nice name for my child. I wanted to know if the name Iman is acceptable since the name Barrah is not a desirable name.

Dear Respected Sir, I am desperately seeking your lecture on this matter that I am going to disclose to you now. I had conversation with my friend in USA on British teacher in Sudan accused of insulting Islam in naming one of her student?s teddy bear Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). My friend argued that the sentence passed on British teacher was nonsense. It?s common to name pets n toys in USA. He told that Muslim justice are unfair and against human rights. I told him that he have to understand the culture and mentality of Muslim people. It?s not right to name pets n stuffs with person name especially sacred person like prophets. He again argued that many people doing horrible acts by the name of Mohammad. He also mentioned on the cartoons row in Denmark about Prophet Mohammad(PBUH) that Muslims are too emotional. I replied back that we honour  our prophet  whereas in USA it?s common to see some people abusing  Prophet Jesus(PBUH)?s  name in which they don?t respect and protect their religion. As you know, sir our debate on this matter went war on words and  I couldn?t  convince him. Could you please lecture us on this matter.  Thank you.

As'salam Alaikum, I thank you for your wonderful website, it really does help to answer some fundemental questions. My question has been bothering me for sometime. At the present I am pregnant and I have been doing research on the proper Islamic way in celebrating the child's birth. My question is on many websites it says that from authentic hadith it says for a boy you have to slaughter 2 sheeps and for a girl it is one. But in Islam it says there is no difference between a boy and girl than can you please explain this hadith. My husband says in Morocco they slaughter one for either sex, so what is correct? Also, could you please clarify some of the rights for celebrating a child's birth because even some of them I am not clear were there orgins are from. Thank you so much. Wa'alaikum As'salam.

I was able to find out the sex of the second loss. Should I name it, even though it was only 16 weeks and was removed as tissue? Jazakum Allah khayran.

Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. I have two lovely children and a happy family life. Two weeks ago my brother-in-law asked my husband to register his name as father and me myself as mother of his child (to be delivered in few months) because he is not a citizen in the country where we are living now. But I refused because I have heard that Islam prohibits that. But my husband says there is nothing wrong with this and we are just trying to help. Can you tell me what does Islam say on that?
