Using a Deceased’s Medical Record for Scientific Purposes
Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. Lately, a sister passed away. During her lifetime she had the Morquio disease and so she had routine tests with it being a very rare disease. I would like to know if it is permissible in Islam to donate her medical records to specialists (to benefit other people suffering
from the same disease). I ask this question although I have assured the family of the deceased that they can let other people benefit from them, but they would like to know Islam’s stance on this in order to have a clear conscience. Jazakum Allah khayran.
