Marriage and Divorce
Dear sheikh, As-Salamu `alaykum. I did not do istikharah prayer before I got married. Things have been difficult for me after my marriage (of just a few months). Is it OK to perform istikharah to seek guidance on whether I should stay in this marriage?
Dear scholars, As-salamu `alaykum. I have a friend who came to this country illegally. He has a wife and children back home, but in order to get a green card, he is planning to send a written divorce paper to his wife and then get married on paper only in this country. When he gets his green card, he will divorce his “paper” wife here and resume his relationship with his real wife back home and hopefully be able to bring her here. The question is whether the paper divorce to the wife back home is considered an Islamic divorce? He has no intention to divorce her. Jazakum Allah khayran.
Respected scholars, as-salamu `alaykum. I am a man inflicted with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). It obsesses me completely and always drives me to utter an explicit pronouncement of divorce, though I love my wife so much and I do not want to divorce her. However, it is such cursed obsessions that impel me to utter such a pronouncement to be followed by an agonizing regret on my part. So, what should I do? And will such divorce be effective?Jazakum Allahu khayran.
