Islamic View of Killing Spies
Traitors have been a main cause of the assassination of many faithful martyrs. Many a time traitors have informed the Jews about the Palestinians who fight to defend their country and by so doing have enabled the Jews to target those fighters and displace many innocent Palestinians. It was a Palestinian spy who was the cause behind the assassination of the leader of Al-Qassam detachments and a further fourteen Palestinian fighters, not to mention those who were wounded. Likewise, there are some Iraqi traitors who inform the Americans about members of the Iraqi resistance. If we know that a certain person is a spy, how should we deal with him? Does the ruling of how to deal with apostates apply to him? We would like you to outline the Islamic point of view of how to treat traitors who help the enemies of Islam and inform against their [supposed] fellow Muslims.
