kosher

Respected scholars, as-salamu `alaykum. I would like to inquire the differences and similarities between kosher and halal products. Thus, are kosher products also halal? Moreover, many fruit yogurts contain gelatin derived from bovine. Is it permissible to eat them? Jazakum Allahu khayran.

assalamo alakum thank u for having my question:KOSHER FOOD including meat ,poultry and bakery ,we heard from some that we can eat.later there are papers circulated in one of the mosque that the kosher food is not halal,we seek kosher food when we need to buy this and not driving 10 kilometer for this kind of food or sometimes on sale. we phoned one imam, who  said yes you can.gazakum ALLA khair
