We know your opinion concerning smoking and that you tend to deem smoking prohi bited, basing your opinion on the great harm it causes to one’s body, soul, and money. But I want to know your opinion concerning khat, which has been widespread here in Yemen for a long time now. People have become familiar with it to the extent that many scholars and judges take it without any objection. However, we know that there are some scholars in other countries who deem khat prohibited and disapprove of whoever is addicted to it, basing their opinion on the harm and wastefulness implied in taking such a thing. So please tell us the sound judgment on this controversial issue.
