As-Salaamu `Alaykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakaatuh, Sheikh Ahmad. I was very happy reading your answers on last week’s live Fatwa. May Allah reward you for that effort! My question is about running business at the time of Friday prayer. I heard that we are not allowed to run business at this time and that there is a verse in the Qur’an about this. I would appreciate if you could tell me the Qur’anic verse and its meaning. My second point: is this applied in all cases or there are some exceptions, because it came to my mind that sometimes people need drugstores to get medication and sometimes it is urgent case that you cannot delay? I know the Qur’an is perfect and maybe I misunderstand this point. So I would appreciate if you could make this issue clear to me in some kind of detail if you have time.
Dear Sheikh! We heard recently that a Turkish imam has innovated a way to deliver the Jumu`ah khutbah (sermon). The idea is like a video conference. The man will deliver the khutbah in one mosque and it will be transmitted to about 350 mosques through the Internet. The imams of these mosques will stay in their respective mosques and waiting till the khutbah is over and then lead their people in Prayer. The man says that we can make use of state-of-the-art technology in spreading Islam. What do you think of such an idea?
If someone reaches Jumu`ah during the Tashahhud, what should he do?
Salamu 'Alaykum, I have a few questions:1.As far as attending jumuah prayer, if one has job during friday and cannot have time to get to prayer as it is difficult especially in my case I use public transport which takes even longer to get around, what is the ruling on that? 2.Last year i gave zakat which was around early november but i cannot remember the exact date, so this year how should i calculate the time which zakat is due?3.Finally i would like to know in prayer is there a difference between fajr and subh? Is fajr the sunnah while subh is the fardh? or do both mean morning prayer? Jazaka Allahu khayran katheerah. Salamu 'Alaykum.
Dear scholars, as-Salamu `alaykum. Can Jumu`ah Prayer be held before the time of Zhuhr, that is, before the sun has passed its zenith? Jazakum Allah khayran.
Is it obligatory to bathe (perform ghusl) before going to Friday Prayer? Could you please answer in detail?
As-Salamu `alaykum. I live near a Masjid that suffers from overcrowding on Friday Prayers. The board of trustees decided to make two Jumu`ahs(Friday Prayers). Thus, can we have more than one Jumu`ah Prayer in one mosque? Jazakum Allahu khayran.
Assalamu'alaikum dear scholars. The local Imam hear makes controversial statements in his khutbah, After most Jummahs instead of feeling good I feel depressed and disgusted. My problem today is the statement that he made saying that in his opinion their is no more Jihad for the sake of Allah today. Some say you should not take this literal, but aren't things in Fiqh and the Kitab of Allah taken literal before allegorical? And why would he say such a thing, and what is the benefit. Should you not clarify your statement? My main question is can I choose not to pray behind someone who openly denies Jihad for the sake of Allah? May Allah bless the Scholars and islamonline.net for the benefiting our Ummah.
As-Salamu `alaykum! I attend Friday prayers in the masjid every week, but there is always a lot of com motion and distraction during the khutbah (Friday sermon) due to the collecting of money. My question is: Should Zakah money be collected and handled during the Friday khutbah? More specifically, should this be done while the Imam is delivering the khutbah or while the prayer is being performed?
As-Salamu`alykum. It was recently brought to my attention by some brothers at school that Jumu`ah Prayers (two Rak`ahs) can only be performed at the exact time of Zuhr Prayer. Zuhr time in Toronto is at 1:30 pm but since classes don't finish until 3:00 pm, we do Jumu`ah Prayer after school. After discussing this with an Imam, he said that Jumu`ah could be made any time before `Asr time (which is at 5:00 pm). Which view is consistent with the Shari`ah?
Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. In our country two adhans are said before Jumu`ah prayer. What is the sunnah, one or two adhans? Is there any rule concerning the place from where the adhan must be made? Is there any hadith that says this adhan on Friday must be made outside the mosque? Jazakum Allah khayran.
As-salamu `alaykum. May Allah grant you much rewa rd for your guidance. Is there any specific du`a’ (supplication) to be said during the pause between the two parts of the Friday khutbah (sermon)? Is there any Prophetic Hadith regarding this?
Respected scholars, as-salamu`alaykum. I will move from Dubai to a place in British Columbia, Canada, called Campbell River; there is no mosque in this city as there are no Muslims there. Do I have to leave my work at the time of Jumu`ah Prayer although I won't go for prayer in a mosque, or should I simply pray Zhuhr?Another thing is that I'm not aware of the food available in that area. But as long as there are no Muslims there, I probably won't have access to h alal food there. So is it OK to eat outdoors beef and pizza as I won't cook at home? Your reply is appreciated. I feel upset because of those concerns.
As-salamu `alaykum, I work for a company, and the problem is that I cannot perform Jumu`ah Prayer. What do I have to do? Jazakum Allahu khayran.
