Janazah

Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. We often hear of the death of someone who lives in another country and we are asked to pray Janazah (funeral prayer) in absentia, seeking the reward of Allah. This used to occur frequently until some brothers objected to this practice, stating that the deceased had been prayed upon in his country and that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) did not pray twice upon a dead person. Is it acceptable for us to pray Janazah in absentia upon a person who was prayed upon in his own country? Jazakum Allah khayran.

Scholars of Islam, As-Salamu `alaykum. I’d like to know whether or not we are allowed to offer funeral prayer for a person who does not pray.

Respected scholars, as-salamu`alaykum. In some Muslim countries there are mourning customs following the burial of the deceased such as setting up tents, getting a man to recite Qur'an, people going to console the family of the deceased and distributing water and Arab coffee to those who are present. I would like to know the Shari`ah position on these customs.Jazakum Allahu Khayran.
