Public Imprecation (Al-Li`an)
As-Salamu `Alaykum. I am really confused about certain matters pertaining to the Islamic rulings regarding divorce. I will be very much appreciated if you could furnish me with a Fatwa regarding Li`an? Can Li`an be given in a language other than Arabic? What are the cases in which the husband and wife are supposed to take the oath of Li`an? Please back your Fatwa with proofs from the Qur’an, if possible.
