Illegitimate child

i had illegitmate sexual intercourse and recenctly gave birth to a baby. im not sure what surname to give, the fathers (not sure if he wants to take responsibility yet, he is away at the moment) or mine? i've heard in islam i have to give my first name as her surname, is this true?
