Admiring or Idolizing a Person
One of the forms of shirk mentioned in the Quran is that of good or admired people in the society, where the people of Nuh (peace be upon him) built statues of such people and worshipped them. In today's world one often slavish devotions to famous people and celebrities. I wanted to ask if this qualifies as shirk. If so, what is the best action to take? How does one draw the line between admiring a person for their qualities/skills and idolizing them?
