Marriage to a spouse with herpes
Al salamu alaikum wa rahmatu Allah wa barakatu.Dear sheikh, my question is in regards to the validity of a marriage to a sick spouse. Unfortunately, some time ago, a brother I know went through a moral lapse and fell victim to a sexual act that left him with an unharmful, yet uncurable, STD (namely herpes - type II). Although this was one of the few times that he committed such an act, his qadr was to contract this disease for life. After more than a year of deep regret, depression and agony he managed to pull himself together and put his life back on track. He recently asked for my hand and I am now in a dilemma. I know there is a hadith that states that one should not marry a sick spouse. Would this be applicable in such a case. I believe this STD is prevalent in 1/4 of the population in the US.I appreciate your kind advice on this. Wa'salamu alaikum.
