Why the Name Hawwa Is Not Mentioned in the Qur’an
Dear Scholars,Assalam AlekumWhy is the name Hawwa (Eve) not mentioned in the Qu’ran? Why must Islamic scholars rely on Judaic and Christian scriptures to deduce that “his wife” (as referred to in the Qu’ran) is Hawwa?even though Muslims respect these Ancient Scriptures, why must there be a reliance on the Old and New Testament, which is rejected by Muslims precisely because they believe that the Jews and Christians changed their scripture.then, why not assume that they gave a name “Hawwa” to the unnamed wife of Adam as it appears in the Qu’ran, just like they believe Isaac was sacrificed, and not Ishmael. Why must we rely on these sources for Creation stories? My last question is, how is it that Adam is considered the first prophet if he was the first man? The fact that he disobeyed God and was ejected from Eden does not seem to fit with the idea of him being a Muslim or "submitter."Thank you for your time and patience. Jazak Allah Khayrun
