Wearing Graduation Gowns at Convocations
Respected scholars, As-salamu `alaykum. Is it permissible to attend any convocation ceremony (for conferment of degrees) and wear the robe characteristic of it, since the clothes worn resemble or are derived from Christian religious practices related to popes, bishops, etc. (even till now the church authorities wear the same robes) and since the ceremony also boosts a person's ego. Jazakum Allahu khayran.
