Is Saying Bad About Unidentified People Considered Ghibah (Backbiting)?
Assalamu a'alikum rahmatullah respectful scholars and brothers in deen! If someone enganged in conversations involving gheebah doesn't identify the person of whom he is talking about, neither by his/her name or appearance, is it considered gheebah still? I think this is a major sin Muslims are taking too lightly nowadays, often forgetting it is a MAJOR sin. I often try to advise people by holding my own tongue with my fingers, but I'm not taken seriously. Alhamdulillah my arabic is very poor but many times I can understand the subject people are talking about and I often caught them in conversations involving gheebah and nameemah. (My husband and his friends, and the sisters with whom I am often are arabic speakers).
