Assalamu 'alaikum, my question is regarding the medical procedure that can be performed to choose the gender of a child. If someone has only daughters and wants a son, or vice versa, is it halal to use this procedure or would it be considered a clear transgression and haram. Jazak Allah.
How should the situation where men outnumber women by a vast majority in a disaster area be treated? For example, we have recently heard about gender imbalance in the Aceh region. Due to the fact that the majority of dead in the Asian tsunami disaster were women and children, there are now many men without wives. Did such a thing ever happen in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the four rightly guided caliphs? What are the roles of Muslim governments and Muslims in general in this urgent crisis?
Dear scholars, As-Salaam `Alaykum. My purpose of writing to you is to seek clarification pertaining to the Islamic point of view with regards to the sex change operation for male transsexuals (not hermaphrodites). These group of people have complete male physical attributes but feel completely female inside. In short, a female trapped in a male's body. In Islam, is sex change allowed for this group of people? If it is allowed, I would appreciate very much if you could provide relevant excerpts from the Qur'an or Hadith. Jazakum Allah khayran.
