Feigning Divorce for the Sake of Citizenship
Dear Sheikh, I am a Muslim living in France. I authorized my father in an Arab court to divorce my wife on my behalf. I do not have any intention to divorce her, I am just doing this for the sake of obtaining papers that say that I have no wife, so I will be able to marry another wife from here and get the citizenship. The law here does not allow polygyny and in the meantime, I do not like to leave my wife. Is this divorce valid?
