Does Feeling Happy after Doing Good Weaken Ikhlas?
As-Salamu `alaykum. As-Salam `alaykum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuh. I have a problem with my intentions; I love to do good deeds and help others according to the Islamic teachings. However, I feel happy when people start talking about my good acts. I do not offer these deeds to hear compliments from others, I do this for gaining “hasanat” (Allah’s reward) but I can’t help it. For example, when I have a guest I try to be so generous with him because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was so with his guests. But I know that this guest will go and say good things about me and that makes me feel happy, so what am I supposed to do to make all my acts done merely for the sake of Allah? Thank you very much for this great website.
