Evil Eye

I am recently married and a recent convert to Islam. We were married in UAE and we had an arguement which resulted in me returning to the states without my wife. She is claiming that she has been afflicted with an evil eye and is receiving treatment from a healer with the quran. I do not understand all this. All I want is to have my wife return to me in the United States. Do I have the right to ask for her to return to me without question?

Respected sheikh, as-salamu `alaykum. I would like to ask you about the "evil eye". Is there something really called "evil eye"? And is it true that it inflicts harm on people? If so, what is the Islamic cure or way of protection against such evil? Jazakum Allah khayran.

"How can a person that is envious or has the evil eye (Hasud) harm someone? Is it direct harm from the person, or is it harm that happens without the hasoud doing anything directly? Can someone blame a car accident at someone that might have looked envious at the person with the car?"
