Is a Prom Allowed in Islam?
As-Salamu `alaykum. Dear Scholar, I am having my high school prom within a few weeks and I have asked my teacher here whether it is allowed in Islam to go to it. A prom is a social event in which people dress up in ball dresses and suits. They go for dinner and talk, and some can dance if they want but it is not compulsory. I asked my Islamic teacher whether parties and discos were allowed. His answer was no, but he didn’t quite answer and understand the question on a prom. Is a prom allowed in Islam?
