Dear scholar, As-Salamu `alaykum. I am a textile designer. I work for a design studio on a computer to make designs for textiles that are sold to sportswear companies, who eventually make bathing suits and other sportswear items, for men and women. The designs for the fabrics are mostly flowers and abstract designs. Is this permissible, as we know bathing suits, et cetera, are not allowed in Islam?

Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. I usually wear a tie every weekday during my office time. Recently when I went to our official mosque, one of my senior colleagues strongly objected that being a Muslim, I must not wear any tie on my shirt while praying! That has made me very upset. Anyway, could you please kindly advise whether wearing a tie in Islam is prohibited or not? I will appreciate your kind assistance and reply in light of the Qur’an and Hadith in this regards.
