As-Salamu `alaykum! Is it haram for a Muslim woman to wear pants or trousers? Is it haram for a Muslim woman to go shopping or to pay visits without being accompanied by a mahram (i.e., alone)? Is it haram for a Muslim woman to join men on food or sit with them even if she is wearing full Hijab?
Dear scholar, Assalam o alaikum, my question is that our house is combined, consisting of 3 brothers, their wives, and children. I am wondering if it is ok islamically for me that my brother in laws and my sister in laws' husbands and my husband's other male relatives and his adult nephews to see me. Also, is it ok for my husband to see his sister in laws and my sister in laws, and his other female relatives besides. My other question is islamically if combined living is allowed in which case, all of the above is happening or if it is not ok, As a result we are wondering if we should move to our own separate house. After whatever I read in this website says to me that all adult male should not see me and I should not see them and the same is the case for my husband not to see any woman he could potentially marry and also after marriage one should have his own house so they can practice their life freely regarding purdah, which is not practically possibly for me or my husband living in a combined family because their relatives are coming and purdah is not practical for me or my husband. Please advise us on their situation as it is a matter of grave concern. Thank you in advance for your respected wisdom and this website.
As-Salamu `alaykum. I am the mother of a boy who has reached the age of puberty. I want to know what is the extent to which I should cover my body in front of him?
Dear scholar, As-Salamu `alaykum. I am a textile designer. I work for a design studio on a computer to make designs for textiles that are sold to sportswear companies, who eventually make bathing suits and other sportswear items, for men and women. The designs for the fabrics are mostly flowers and abstract designs. Is this permissible, as we know bathing suits, et cetera, are not allowed in Islam?
As Mahram relatives are those relatives whom you can?t marry. Although, it seems not very sensible question. But I want to know as in this world, Mahram relatives CAN NOT come into nikah of anyone even in Paradise (jannah?)? Please explain. No woman could come into Nikah of any Mahram relatives. I know the General ruling about wives in Jannah. But what if any Mahram woman dies bachelor or something. I actually want to know who have become your aunts and uncles, nephews and nieces in this world, are permanently your Mahram even in Jannah, relatively talking about. I?m very Sorry again to ask such thing. Just a 21st century thought appeared in mind so I thought it is good to discuss and become relax rather than thinking yourself and concludes things. Sorry.I want to know it is no problem if females are wearing such shirts/kameez that their bra bands and shoulderstraps are visible in front of Mahram at homes? There is no problem if CHEMISE is visible, then what about bra? It is just a cloth and designed for females. But I think it is sort of and at times very sensual so even in front of Mahrams, it should not be visible easily! Please explain?
As-Salamu `Alaykum. Are there different levels of satr (covering parts of the body) for women: i.e., for a Muslim woman in the presence of another Muslim woman, for a Muslim woman in presence of a non-Muslim woman, and so on. If so, what are they?
Salam. At what age does a grown woman have to start covering in front of her nephews by marriage. I am 25, married with kids, and have severeal young boy nephews right around the age of puberty. 13, 11 14. THey come over all the time to swim and i am wondering when do i determine that wearing hijab is fard. Is it at the age of knowledge or the actual reaching of puberty or when they start changing? and how would i determine . also what about a younger girl who has reached puberty for a while 15 or 16. but who is only 2 to three yrs older than the still young boy. wqould she have to cover because the age difference is so small or is it the same rule for me since islamically she is considered an adult. thank you for your clarification! wassalam
