As-Salaam-AlaikumI am keeping a cat as a pet in my family home, is it permissable in Islam? I am also wondering whether it is wrong to have the animal neutered - the vet has advised this as the cat will dirty the house (to leave its markings) unless neuteredI am going to university to study for my final year Inshallah and I will be living alone. I am wondering whether it is OK for me to keep a pet dog (mostly outside in kennels) for my protection and some companionship. I have been told dogs are Haram.Thank you

As-Salamu `alaykum! I am keeping a pet dog at my home. Sometimes, it touches me and its skin and fur simply touch my clothes. Kindly tell whether I can perform prayer with the same clothes or I should change them. Thank you!
