Scholars of Islam, As-Salaam `Alaykum wa Rahamatullah wa Barakatuh. What does Islam say about males wearing precious stones or gems? Is it true that the Prophet Muhammad had a stone in his ring? What was its color?

One of my friends is very ambitious to be a fashion designer even though he will graduate from the faculty of biochemistry. He loves to buy fashion books such as Vogue and his sketching proved his talent. I told him that to be a fashion designer is not Islamic because he is more interested in designing western style and I advised him to create something that looks Islamic or maybe he can pursue another job. He says, Allah gave him the talent and he wants to use it. What is your opinion?

As-salamu `alaykum. These days many of my fellow Muslim women wear hijab, but they also wear clothes that I think are far too tight. What if my husband likes me to wear tight clothes because he thinks it is attractive? Is this ok? Also, what if I go to work and the work clothes we find in the stores are all tight? What should I do in this case?

As-Salamu `alaykum. My question is concerning silk ties for men. I heard at some conferences that silk ties are allowed because they do not touch the skin. However, I read in Al-Bukhari's Sahih that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that the most silk a man could wear is the width of four fingers. Also, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that a man who wears silk in this world will not wear it in the Hereafter. What is the correct Islamic opinion about this?

as-salamu `alaykumDear scholar:At my school our islamic studies teacher had told us that a few things where hara which im not sure aboutfristly she told us that the colours red and black where haram to wear because i think red is symbolic of love, lust and passion which attarcts the opposite sex. And also that the colour black was haram to wear because its a dark omen. She also said as musliums we should aviod these colours. We can't dye our hair that colour or associate with it . I'm confused, because I always wear red till I heard it was haram, I thought it was just a colour, Thank you
