Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmat-Allaahi wa barakaatuhu On March 18 various media sources reported that The Vatican and Saudi Arabia are in talks to open the first ever Church in the kingdom.  The Vatican statement was "If we manage to obtain authorization for the construction of the first church, it will be an outcome of histor ic dimensions," said Vatican Spokesman Father Federico Lombardi.  Please can you tell me the Islamic ruling on this IF (& its a big IF) Saudi Arabia allow the Church to be built in the kingdom. As a layman the famous hadith of Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) comes to mind Rasoolullah (may peace and blessings be upon him) has said; ?No two religions can co-exist  in Arabia.?the Holy Prophet?s (may peace and blessings be upon him)  last advice was: ?Expel the Jews and the Christians from the Arab lands.?.Please can you advise what Muslims should do if indeed a Church is built in Saudi Arabia?Wa'Salaam

Dear respected scholars, as-salamu`alaykum.Are non-muslims allowed to preach their religion and to build their places of worship in an Islamic State?If yes then why building of churches are not allowed in Saudi Arabia whereas muslims are building their Mosques in London and Paris etc.?
