Gathering With Non-Muslims For a Baby Shower
I am pregnant and my non-Muslim co-workers want to throw a baby shower for me, but I have declined their thoughtful suggestion. However, I would like to know if after the baby is born, would it be permissible to have a gathering with my co-workers to introduce the newborn to them which would of course, include food and gifts? My co-workers do not want to offend my faith in any way. They are just excited about the baby and would like to celebrate. Could you please explain the whole issue from an Islamic perspective?
