Sending Peace and Blessings on the Prophet in Tashahhud: Shirk?
AsSalamu?alaykum,I have a question regarding the recitations in as-salaah (prayers) which i have been thinking for a long long time but never dared to ask.All the recitations from the start are all directed to God, and as we all know in the al-fatihah verse ?Thee (alone) do we worship; and Thee (alone) do we ask for help.?, Thee here is obviously no other than the GOD.So my question is, why is it in the ?Tahiyat? , after saying ?All greetings, all blessings, all prayers and all goodness belong to Allah alone?, we then say ?Peace be upon thee O Prophet?? This which looks like an inconsistency really disturbs me as it doesn?t seem right to me, it?s like we are also praying TO the prophet when we recite that? Of course it would've been a different case if we are praying FOR the prophet, but that's not how this particular recitation stands out to me. And worse, it?s immediately after we say all greetings, etc, are to Allah ALONE?I'm really afraid if i'm committing shirk in the most subtle way. I would appreciate it very much if IOL can also get a response from Sheikh Yusuf al-Qardawi besides opinions from all other scholars. JazaakumuLlahu khayran katheera.
