Can an Imam Delay a Prayer for Watching a Soccer Match?
Dear Sheikh, As-Salam `Alaykum. During the World Cup competitions, it may happen that the time of Friday Prayer coincides with the time of a soccer match that tends to be so important to a nation, due to some reasons: being the first time for the national team to qualify for the World Cup, for instance, or due to having the soccer stigmatized with politics. Is it permissible for people in such occasions to delay the prayer?
